Bangalore traffic - a Perspective

Bangalore – the city that mesmerizes people by its beautiful gardens and weather … and maybe unintentionally spices up lives of people on the roads, is the city I live in. I have been here for more than three years now, and now I think I have a better understanding of quirks of this city.

Many people would have a list of their pet peeves against the Bangalore traffic, mine is a list of points which reminds me that there can be no other city like this:

1. The magical One-Ways: It’s like Alice’s wonderland … one slip of foot, and you keep going deeper into the rabbit hole…one one-way leading you to another and so on and so forth. The journey may unfold sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant scenarios

2. Narrow road and new pits and bumps everyday: It’s no less than a video game to be on the streets of Bangalore! The simple goal of this game is to be able to manage 2 cars and a cycle/ rickshaw side by side in a 1 lane road and not have any accident. The only drawback with this real life game is that there are no “extra lives” or “restarts”

3. The world is your parking place: If you are searching for a parking place, you are flawed ….in Bangalore you need to have great luck by your side to get a decent parking place. If you are among the normal crowd, you will also join others in playing the game of ‘Hide and seek’ with traffic police

4. Never ending Metro work: Hope springs are indeed eternal … well Bangalore’s Namma Metro has been that source of hope since past at least 4 years … only God knows if this is going to be an eternal hope or will reach a point of reality as well..

5. Traffic rules:  What is that !!!? Hey the above pic was not one way lane if you thought so :)
